Digitalisation and AI

Home Digitalisation and A ...

Artificial intelligence, drones and digital tools are changing how we prevent fires, design buildings and respond when something happens.

We've recently published our first report on AI, digitalisation and new technology in fire safety. It looks at what's actually in use today, and what could be tomorrow, across prevention, fire safety engineering and emergency response.

Some of what we're seeing: AI is already being used to automate basic fire safety concepts and quality control. Chimney sensors and monitored sprinkler systems are shifting prevention from routine checks to continuous data. Drones, firefighting robots and VR training have moved from pilot to practice in Norwegian fire services.

What's often missing is the link between the technology and the fire safety expertise behind it. That's where we want to contribute, with research, testing and assessment that make sure new tools aren't just new, but good.

This is an area we'll build out further. If you have a question or a project where digitalisation and fire safety meet, we'd like to hear from you.
